Remnants of Modernism. Between salons. Granados & Pellicer.
From November 26, 2016 to April 30, 2017 /
The exhibition proposed “listening to music and listening to painting”
This exhibition, produced by the Abelló Museum, took advantage of the celebration of the Granados Year to make known the friendship that united the two artists, the musician and composer Enric Granados and the painter Carles Pellicer.
The painter Carles Pellicer is, even today, a great unknown to the general public. Pellicer was one of the teachers and mentor of the Mollet painter Joan Abelló, who, inheriting many of Can Pellicer’s pieces, began in the exciting and magical world of collecting, the embryo of the Museum and the House of the Painter.
The opportunity provided by the Granados Year allowed us to make the figure of Carles Pellicer known through paintings, drawings, decorative objects and photographs from the Abelló Collection. As a result of the deep research work, many works by Pellicer were found by individuals and museum institutions such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia.
Remnants of Modernism. Between salons. Granados & Pellicer completed the trilogy of exhibitions that began in 2011 with the aim of disseminating different aspects of the modernist collection of the Joan Abelló Municipal Foundation: Obrim el teló (2011) and Interioritats quotidianes (2013).
