A tactile, visual and olfactory journey through the permanent exhibition

15/11/2018

We invite you to find out about the news we have introduced in the permanent exhibition of the Abelló Museum in order to improve the accessibility of the visit for people with visual and hearing disabilities. These improvements have been developed with the support of the Cultural Heritage Office of the Barcelona Provincial Council, as part of the La Mirada Tàctil project.

Thus, visitors will have different videos with subtitles and sign language that explain the most outstanding works, in addition to the audiovisual that presents the figure and work of Joan Abelló.

The other novelty, a pioneer in all the museums of the Network, is the creation of an olfactory experience with fragrances that recreate some of the works in the Abelló collection. In this way, people with visual impairments will be able to reinforce their understanding of the works through multi-sensoryity.

To complete the visit, the Abelló Museum has dossiers with an adapted script of the visit, with the relief of different works to facilitate the tactile recognition and the necessary material for the olfactory experience.
