Remnants of Modernism. Let’s open the curtain
From May 5 to November 6, 2011 /
“Let’s open the curtain” inaugurates the series of exhibitions “Vestiges of Modernism”. A trilogy of exhibitions where the Museu Abelló, through the collection of its collection, wants to explain aspects that are still somewhat forgotten in this period as prolific as Modernism. The cycle consists of the following exhibitions: “Let’s open the curtain”, “Everyday interiors” and “Carles Pellicer, a Catalan firefighter”.
Through the exhibition “Let’s open the curtain”, we wanted to make a presentation of the performing arts during Modernism. A Barcelona-Paris-Barcelona journey, with which Carles Pellicer introduced us to the exhibition, passing through the Paris of the actress Sara Bernhardt and returning to Barcelona from the putxinellis of the 4 Cats, at the same time as enlivening the plays and musicals by Apel·les Mestres and Enric Granados.
The serpentine dance of Loïe Fuller and the butterfly women were very well represented, in which theater, dance and cinema were the protagonists of the final epilogue.
