The Mollet of Abelló
From February 7 to May 10, 2009 /
“The Mollet of Abelló” was presented as a walk through the city through the spaces that inspired Joan Abelló. From the fields -which reminded us of a lost rural landscape-, the stations, some historical places (such as the Marfà or the Ateneu) to the farmhouses on the old outskirts. On the other hand, works were also exhibited that represented events that have marked the lives of the people of Mollet, such as the floods, the millennium and the bombing of the Four Cantons. The exhibition tour ended in Galicia, which inspired, among other works, La Suite de les Catedrals.
The death of Joan Abelló, when the last details were already closed, transformed what was to be a celebration into a sense of homage to the painter.
