Lyrical constructions. Man Ray / Leandre Cristòfol. The Dada object and spirit
From June 4 to August 28, 2010 /
Lyrical construction is the title of a sculpture by Leandre Cristòfol from 1934 that served to give the title to this exhibition. It is a work that makes you talk about pieces of wood and a wire. Man Ray and Cristòfol created “lyrical constructions”, artifacts based on ingenuity, imagination and poetry, visual and plastic inventions that invite the participation of the spectator. The exhibition wanted to bring the two artists into dialogue through a sample of photographs of Man Ray objects from the Afflitto collection in New York and three-dimensional sculptures by Leandre Cristòfol from the collection of the Jaume Morera Art Museum. Lleida, as well as some documents that showed the fervent admiration of the Lleida avant-garde by Man Ray. The idea was to bring together material from the Dada spirit that brought the two artists together.
