Unpublished recording of Brossa, Abelló and Portabella
Coinciding with the exhibition No me fer Joan Brossa, which is scheduled to commemorate the Brossa Year, the Museu Abelló presents an unpublished recording in which Brossa, Abelló and the filmmaker Pere Portabella parody the “25 años de paz” ( 25th anniversary of the Franco regime).
It is a theatrical action performed in 1964, with improvised monologues and dialogues, performed in a private, almost clandestine way, in which a parody of what the regime called the “25 years of peace” is made. The action took place in Joan Abelló’s studio in Mollet and was attended by friends from La Penya from 10 to 12, who frequented the social gatherings at Abelló’s studio. For half an hour, the processions “bajo palio”, the “Parade of Victory” and the “25 years of peace” are parodied. The recording was done by Joan Garreta.
The original film is in the Documentation Center of the Joan Abelló Municipal Foundation, which, for the first time, makes it available to the public in the exhibition “Brossa i Abelló”, a documentary space that complements the installation No em fer Joan Brossa, of cabosanroque.
